Hello Mountaineers! This is Daniel Atwood and I have been teaching science at Tuscola since 2013. Prior to that I taught 8th grade science at Waynesville Middle from 2008-2013. I have lived in Waynesville since I was about 6 years old and am a 2004 graduate of Tuscola High School. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Science Education/Earth Sciences Conc. in 2008 from Western Carolina University. I received my National Board Certification from NBPTS in 2017. I received my Master’s Degree in STEM Education from North Carolina State University in 2021. My family consists of my wife, Brooke, who is a teacher at Waynesville Middle, and my son, Boone, who is a student in Haywood County Schools. We have two cats (Theo and Jack) and one dog (Daisy). In my free time I enjoy tabletop and board gaming, mountain biking, cooking, playing guitar and bass. I love watching hockey (Go Canes!), NC State Wolfpack Sports, and Minor League Baseball.
