Garner, Ben

I have been a teacher for Haywood County Schools since 2004. I first taught at Waynesville Middle School for four years, and then moved to Tuscola. I taught at Tuscola for thirteen years, and then moved to the Haywood Community Learning Center (HCLC) for the past two years. I came back to Tuscola this school year. I teach mainly the Occupational Course of Study diploma tract, and am currently teaching OCS English I, II, and III this semester. In my other job I am the Senior Enlisted Leader of the North Carolina National Guard. I am responsible for advocating to the Adjutant General on behalf of the enlisted force of the National Guard in North Carolina. I have been in the military for almost 31 years. I hold a Master’s Degree in Education from Western Carolina University. I am married to Amy Garner who is a Registered Nurse, but currently teaches Health Sciences here at Tuscola. We have two children Josie- 22, and Jeb- 18. We have a 10 year old Dorkie named Rocky, and a 9 year old cat named Gus. In my free time I enjoy working on home projects, and traveling the globe.
