Senior Baccalaureate Service

Attention All Seniors!!!

You are formally invited to attend a very old tradition at Tuscola for your graduation – the 2024 Tuscola High School Baccalaureate!!! This service is an intimate, non-denominational religious service for any senior and their family/friends who wish to attend. This service will be held at Dellwood Baptist Church on Sunday, May 19th, at 2:00. Seniors will arrive by 1:20, and the service will last around 45 minutes. After that, there will be refreshments and time to visit and take pictures with everyone. 

History of the baccalaureate service: 

The Baccalaureate service is believed to have originated at the University of Oxford in 1432 when each graduate was required to deliver a sermon in Latin as part of his academic requirements. The American baccalaureate service is an outgrowth of the baccalaureate sermon. The earliest known in America was at the College of New Jersey (Now Princeton University) in 1760. Needless to say, this is a long-standing and sacred tradition.
