We want to take a few minutes to let you know what to expect next week as we begin our graduation ceremonies. These plans have changed several times over the last couple of weeks as the number of individuals allowed at the event has been expanded. At this point, each of you should have signed up for a graduation time online. We ask that you arrive for graduation ten (10) minutes before your designated time. With graduation celebrations starting at the top of each hour, you must be here as close to the specified time as possible to help keep us on track. You may have up to three cars in the graduation line; others may pull into the parking lot to watch from their vehicles. We ask that the senior be in the lead car. You will pass through several stations as you work your way through the bus line and around to the area of the bandstand where graduation will occur.
We will have a stage set up in the parking lot, and you will be asked to exit your cars. Up to ten (10) parents and family members will also be able to leave their vehicles as well. Your name will be called, and you will be able to walk across the stage, receive your diploma, and have your photo taken.
Please dress appropriately for graduation, while we are relaxing the dress code some for graduation, we ask that you dress suitable for an event of this significance. Please do not plan to wear shorts, flipflops, tee shirts, etc. As in the past, you will not be allowed to decorate your caps for graduation.
After this is completed, you will be able to leave campus. You may also choose to park and stay and watch more of the graduation from your car. Your family must help us to keep the ceremony flowing smoothly by quickly returning to their vehicles after you have walked across the stage. Due to gathering restrictions, you will not be able to leave your car except when you are graduating. Restroom facilities on campus will not be available, so please plan accordingly.
To help you visualize the process, we will post a graduation practice video to our website on Monday of next week detailing the stations and the process. We are waiting until Monday to complete this video so that we will have the campus setup for the program, and it will be easier for you to see the flow and prepare for what to expect.
The current weather forecast for next week looks to be promising at this point, but there is always a chance for rain this time of year. We will make every effort to stay outside if we can. If we must move the ceremony inside, we will spread out into multiple rooms to accommodate as many family members as possible. You should plan for yourself and five (5) family members to attend if we have to move the event inside since we will be limited to a gathering size of ten (10) people. If we are forced inside, we will ask families to stay in their vehicles until we let you know we are ready for you to come inside.
After the ceremony is complete, we will put all of the graduation videos together along with student and faculty speeches. We hope to get this final video completed and posted to youtube for your family to watch as soon as we can after the ceremony is over.
Keep in mind that while both the front and back gates will be open during the graduation time periods, you will not be able to access the front of the building from the back entrance. If you are coming to campus to graduate, please use the main entrance and stay in the outside lane. If you are coming to watch, use the inside lane to access the main parking lot viewing area.
Thank you again for your patience, and we look forward to seeing you at our commencement exercise on the 2nd and 3rd.
