Home / School News / Bomb Threat on Restroom Wall at Tuscola High School

UPDATE:  11:58 am

We are currently in the process of returning students to Tuscola High School’s campus. In order to assure that we account for all of our students, we are no longer allowing students to be checked out at Stuart Auditorium. If you wish you check a student out, this will need to be done at Tuscola High School after students have returned to campus.

UPDATE:  11:41 am

This morning at approximately 9:40 am, school officials were notified about a sparsely worded bomb threat written on a wall in a girls restroom.

For precautionary reasons, the school was evacuated, and law enforcement officials searched the campus. At this time that search has been completed, the school has been deemed safe, and students are in the process of returning to campus.

Our next step is to make sure students return to as normal a schedule as possible and have a chance to eat lunch before we end the day. Any student that was checked out at Stuart Auditorium earlier today will not be counted absent.

We are thankful for the effort of all of those involved in the process of keeping our students safe. Dr. Bill Nolte, Interim Superintendent said, “We are pleased that this incident ended without any injuries or damage to property. We deeply appreciate the quick response from Mr. Collins and his staff, central office staff and members of the law enforcement community.”

UPDATE:  10:42 am

A rapid notification message has been sent to parents about student pick up at Stuart Auditorium at Lake Junaluska.  We will return students to campus after the campus is cleared.  If the campus is not cleared by the end of the school day, we will provide parents with another update.  As always, parents may pick up their children at Stuart Auditorium if they wish.

We are thankful that no one has been injured.  We are exercising caution to assure the safety of our students and staff.
