This August two students from THS will be heading to Winston-Salem to study at The University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
Logan Lyngaas (11th) will be studying classical guitar. He has been playing for 3 years. Logan is self-taught. In April of 2016 he began classical guitar lessons with Steve Newbrough at Asheville’s Summit Academy of Music. Last year Logan auditioned at UNCSA, but was not accepted. After his audition he persevered and continued to study and after a second audition was accepted. His favorite classical pieces are “Andante in A minor” by Ferdinando Carulli and “Snowflight” by Andrew York. Besides classical music, Logan enjoys playing the Blues and Led Zeppelin.
Cade Leslie (10th) will be studying modern and contemporary dance with a focus on the Horton and Graham technique. Cade has studied for 4 years and currently he is at Center Stage in Asheville. Cade has studied with the former principal of the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater, Raquel Chavis. He has also studied ballet with Ellie Chun. Cade’s plans to work as a professional dancer after his time at UNCSA then study to obtain a business degree.
We are very excited for Logan and Cade as they embark on this next chapter of their educational journey and wish them the very best. We will miss you both!
